Chimwenya Game Park spans a total of 500 acres and is home to an impressive array of wildlife in one of the last remaining indigenous forests and grasslands of the Shire Highlands of Southern Malawi. You may see giraffe, eland, zebra, waterbuck, duiker, blue wildebeest, sable, nyala, impala and jackal roaming the terrain on your visit.
All stays at Game Haven Lodge include free activities in our park.
You will spot a variety of wildlife when venturing out into our park
A haven for wildlife
Giraffe
Well known for their long necks, these gentle giants are the world’s tallest living land animals. An adult male can grow to around 5.5m.
Zebra
The zebra stands out from the crowd. Weighing up to 650 pounds, they are short and stocky with a black coat and white stripes.
Wildebeest
They can run up to 40 mph, which is pretty fast! Although, unfortunately for them, not as fast as lions or cheetahs.
Sable
When challenged, a sable antelope can prove to be quite fierce and determined, often standing its ground rather than running away.
Eland
They are great jumpers, despite their huge size, and can clear a two-metre fence with ease.
